Meeting Guard

Meeting Guard runs only on meeting platforms and protects what's visible in your meeting tab. It's deliberately scoped to what a browser extension can genuinely do — no over-promising.

Not in the current extension release. The current extension version (v3.1.0) ships AI Guard only — it is focused on stopping sensitive data from leaking into AI chat tools. Meeting Guard and Notetaker Guard described on this page are planned for a future extension update and are not active in the version you install today.

Supported platforms

Meeting Guard activates on meet.google.com, zoom.us (web client), teams.microsoft.com, and webex.com.

What it does

  • Local on-page redaction — the same validated detection engine that powers AI Guard scans text visible in your meeting tab (shared chat messages, live captions) and blurs or redacts flagged regions locally. This protects your own view and reduces what anyone viewing your tab — over your shoulder or via a shared screen of this tab — can see.
  • Input field guard — password and other sensitive form fields on meeting pages are automatically masked, so a stray login during a screen share doesn’t expose credentials.
  • Manual redaction zones — define regions to keep blurred from the dashboard’s Meeting Guard page.
  • Experimental protected sharing — an opt-in, clearly-labeled experimental mode that processes a screen capture through ShieldWays before you share it. It only helps if you share the processed stream.

What it can’t do (yet)

Honest limits. A browser extension cannot modify the outgoing camera or screen-share stream that other participants receive — those frames are captured by the meeting app, not by the extension. True outgoing-stream redaction (including face blur of what others see) requires a desktop app with a virtual camera, which is on our roadmap. We’d rather tell you this plainly than imply protection that isn’t real.

Notetaker Guard

AI notetaker bots are now in most meetings — often without everyone realizing. Notetaker Guard, configured from the dashboard, gives you:

  • Bot detection — get alerted when a third-party AI bot joins your meeting.
  • On-device notes — ShieldWays’ own note-taking processes locally; the “my voice” transcription mode uses the browser’s Web Speech API, so no audio leaves your machine.
  • Redact before sync — PII, secrets, and your custom keywords are stripped from notes before anything is synced or exported.

Configuration

Everything above is controlled from the dashboard: Meeting Guard for protection options, redaction zones, and platforms, and Notetaker for bot detection and note privacy controls.
